CANDi and Planned Pethood organized a free spay/neuter clinic in Bonfil, and the Humane Society of Cozumel was there working hard, learning and sharing knowledge.

CANDi y Planned Pethood organizaron una campaña de esterilización gratuita en Bonfil, y el personal de la Sociedad Humanitaria de Cozumel estuvo ahí trabajando duro, aprendiendo y compartiendo conocimiento.

November 4,5,6,8 and 9 the goal was exceeded, spaying and neutering 1574 animals (dogs, cats, pets and strays)
4,5,6,8 y 9 de noviembre, se rebasó la meta, esterilizando 1574 animales (perros, gatos, mascotas y en estado de calle)

Organizations from México (Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, Cozumel, Mexicalli, Mérida) and U.S.A. and Canada were there.

Organizaciones de México (Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, Cozumel, Mexicalli, Mérida) y de Estados Unidos y Canadá estuvieron presentes.

The Humane Society of Cozumel Island staff was there, our vet KArina Valenti helped from making cotton balls to do spays and give attenttion to the public, Daniela was helping with anestesia, preping animals and giving attention in the recovery area, Zuleyka was our tubing expert having animals ready for surgery, Mario helped handlig the animals in the anestesia area, Olivia was giving atention to the public and to orphan puppies and Andrea was the organizer of the event, so besides been in charge of the cats anestesia, she was supervising the whole event.

El personal de la Sociedad Humanitaria de Cozumel estuvo ahí, nuestra MVZ Karina Valenti apoyó desde hacer torundas hasta hacer cirugías y atender al público, Daniela estuvo ayudando con la anestesia, la preparación de los animales y la atención al público en recuperación, Zuleyka fue la experta en intubar y tenía listos a los animales antes de que entraran a cirugía, Mario estuvo ayudando con el manejo de los animales en el área de anestesia, Olivia ayudó en la atención al público y a cachorros huérfanos y Andrea fue la organizadora del evento, además de que estuvo en la anestesia de los gatos, estaba encargada de supervisar toda la operación.

Collaborating too, persons close to the Humane Society, vet Erika Flores from IFAW, who wrote most od the 1574 prescriptions (!!) we had the visit of vet Julio from Cozumel and vet Janice from Mexico City (sponsored by the Humane Society volunteers). In this photos we can also see vet Tony Rios from Planned Pethood Mérida, an escellent surgeon and teacher.

Colaborando también, personas allegadas a la Sociedad Humanitaria, MVZ Erika Flores del IFAW, que escribio casi todas las 1574 recetas (!!)  tuvimos la visita del MVZ Julio desde Cozumel y MVZ Janice desde la Ciudad de México (gracias al apoyo de las voluntarias de la Sociedad Humanitaria de Cozumel). En estas fotos también sale el MVZ Toño Rios de Planned Pethood Mérida, un excelente cirujano y maestro.

Muchas gracias al staff de la Sociedad Humanitaria y a todos los maravillosos voluntarios que vinieron a ayudar.  Hicimos un gran impacto en esta área de Cozumel y planeamos regresar el próximo mes para repetirlo. Spay/Neuter MOBILE Campaign

Incredible day with lots od succes. 70 dogs and 15 cats NEUTER/SPAYED FREE. We took the surgery room to them, the volunteers worked very hard along the HSCI staff to achieve ths! Toguether we are the solution and we can prevent the unnecesary suffering of animals by spaying/neutering.

A huge thank you to all the Humane Society staff and all the amazing volunteers that came out and helped. We made a big impact for this area of Cozumel today and plan to return next month to do it again. Lavadora Donada / Washer donated

Hello everyone! 
Our washing machine broke at the shelter!!! We use towels for all the babies that come in, drying dogs after baths, as a soft bed for some of our sick animals and the laundry mats here do not accept our business! 
WE NEEDED A WASHING MACHINE!

Se descompuso nuestra lavadora. Usamos toallas, sábanas, cobijas, etc, para secar a los perros después de bañasrlos, para ponerles camas a los cachorros ya los gatos, etc y pues, eso no se puede enviar a la lavandería... Así que necesitábamos una lavadora.

Salsa & Salsa, cooking, dancing and giving a hand/ Salsa&Salsa, cocinando, bailando y ayudando

La Sociedad Humanitaria de Cozumel quisiera extender su agradecimiento a los Chefs Bailarines de Salsa & Salsa! Salsa&Salsa ofrece clases de cocina combinadas con lecciones de baile de salsa. Están ubicados en 3 puertos de crucero: Cozumel, Cabo San Lucas y Mazatlan.  Cada mes, los Chefs Bailarines de Salsa&Salsa escogen una cause para recaudar fondos, con la ayuda de Lela, su cerdito recaudador (es un gran alcancia cerdito de cerámica). Lela son las siglas en inglés para Liderea, Apoya, Vive y Actúa. Para el mes de abril escogieron a la Sociedad Humanitaria de Cozumel. Entre los 3 puertos recaudaron mas de $1700 USD!! Las Chef Bailarinas locales: Amanda Ewart y Stephanie Lopez, presentaron donativos en especie por  $700 USD comprados en el Sam's Club junto con un donativo de $1000 USD!  The Humane Society of Cozumel would like to extend their thanks to the Salsa and Salsa, dancing chefs tour! Salsa and Salsa offers cooking classes combined with salsa dance lessons. They are situated in 3 cruise ship ports: Cozumel, Cabo San Lucas and Mazatlan.    Each month Salsa and Salsa dancing chefs pick a cause to raise money for with the help of Lela their fundraising pig (is a large ceramic piggy bank). Lela actually stands for: Lead, Encourage, Live, Act.    For the month of April they chose the Cozumel Humane Society. Between the 3 ports of call, they raised over $1700!!! Frida y Fili van a Canadá


Frida era una perrita MUY TIMIDA cuando llegó a la Sociedad Humanitaria de Cozumel



Gracias a LOYAL Frida y Fili ronto hallarán un hogar en Canadá.

una larga historia RICKY a long journey

Ricky ha vivido la mayor parte de su vida en completa obscuridad, en una caja de madera y cartón con cubierta de plástico negro. 6 años encadenado dentro de una caja.
Cuando llegó a la Sociedad Humanitaria de Cozumel, Ricky estaba cubierto de garrapatas, estaba en los huesos, tenía erliquiosis y TVT, nunca se le había vacunado o desparasitado.

Ricky ha recibido tratamiento (cirugía incluida) y ahora está sano, estuvo un tiempo en el refugio de la Sociedad Humanitaria, pero se tomó la decisión de que sería más saludable que viviera fuera en un hogar adoptivo "foster home".

Ricky está ganando fuerza y peso y está solucionando sus problemas, ganando confianza, aún está en busca de un HOGAR PERMANENTE. Es un perro dulce y con mucha energía.

Ricky lived most of his life in complete darkness, inside a carton and wood box, covered in black plastic. For 6 years he was chained there.
When he arrived at the Humane Society, Ricky was covered in ticks, he was emaciated, was positive for Ehrlichia and TVT, he had never been dewormed or vaccinated.


Ricky has received treatmen (including surgery) and now he is healthy, he lived for a while at the shelter, but we decided it was better for him to live ina foster home.


Ricky is gaining strenght and weight, he's working out his problems, and he's more confident, he's looking for a PERMANENT HOME. He's a sweet energetic dog.
